At Design Delight Studio we see that sustainability and innovation work side by side. We watched these ideas in action at the 2025 Products of Change (POC) Conference in London. The United Nations co-hosted the event. Leading brands put the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the heart of their plans. Over 400 professionals gathered at the POC Conference. Names such as IKEA, LEGO, and Tesco spoke alongside UN leaders. A clear message emerged: sustainability is not just a nice extra. IKEA gave us a strong case. Between 2016 and 2024 the giant retailer grew its business by nearly 24% and dropped its carbon footprint by 30%. By naming retail managers as sustainability officers, IKEA makes eco-friendly choices in every step. Their method shows that even small businesses can blend growth with care for the environment.
Partnerships: Co-Creation with Communities and Consumers
Caroline Petit, Deputy Director at the United Nations Regional Information Centre, urged brands to “create products with people and the planet, not just for them.” Her words remind us to work closely with others. Consumers and communities share in shaping products and values.

For fashion, this lesson is key. Switching to organic cotton, using water-based inks, and choosing recyclable packaging are steps we take at Design Delight Studio. Each choice seems small. But together they build a strong stand against resource-heavy fast fashion. Smol’s success proves that every little choice our customers make drives a larger movement for responsible production.
The Power of Storytelling to Drive Environmental Action
At the conference, Open Planet explained how storytelling can turn the climate crisis into a call for action. As a UN SDG Media Compact member, Open Planet offers open-source environmental footage. Teachers and changemakers use these videos to spark conversation and share hope.
For creative entrepreneurs like us, this work shows the value of a clear story. Our limited-run collections do more than print a design. Heritage Brands Weaving Sustainability into Licensing
The event also shone a light on heritage brands such as the Natural History Museum and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). For example, the RSPB teamed up with Cornwall chocolatier Chocolarder to create artisan chocolate from shade-grown cocoa. This partnership shows how conservation, community help, and ethical sourcing can work in harmony.
